Control or Curiosity?

February 1, 2019 by Comments

inspirational words just don't cut it! Yes, like so many others, control has been an energy, an action, a response to life’s circumstances to help me feel safe and secure.

Parenting teens and young adults, on the other hand, is the experience that is helping me to shed and shatter this murky web of falsehood that no longer serves me.

In order to let go of control, and trust in the unknown, my mind needed an alternative.  Void, stillness, spaciousness, silence just didn’t cut it for me. Nor did yoga, meditating, or eating chocolate covered almonds.

But the intention to remain in curiousity, to question, to wonder, to allow what is to be with a curious mind and heart instead of a defensive, fix-it NOW warrior stance is helping me to soften and change.

What does control mean to you and how does it serve you? Do you constrict, choke and coerce when you’re dealing with your kids? Or, are you curious, creative and collaborative?

I’m realizing that my life depends on shifting some of my C words around…..
