So funny that a couple of weeks before I the turned 60 years alive, I get turned onto Chip Conley’s Modern Elder Academy.
Man, I wish I could go to this retreat and delve into this new stage of life. I mean, really have the time and space to explore what it means to be me at this point in my life.
I had a cool epiphany on my birthday. For me, as I’ve “aged” I feel more confident, more able to manage life, more able to enjoy the little things, more able to look at life with wonder, and more appreciative of who I am and the people around me.
These feelings make me feel younger not older! More alive and more excited about the future.
I had these qualities when I first arrived here on the planet, and then lost much of them traveling the human experience as I picked up fearful beliefs, experienced challenges and got the wind knocked out of my sails.
I don’t care how well you take care of yourself, we’re all decomposing from the minute we take our first breath. This is our current story of the birth/death experience. But who knows what will be for us 500 years from now? Might be a whole new paradigm…
We come in pretty pure, take on a lot of energetic shit, and then hopefully, spend much of our time releasing the shit, determined to step back into our purity.
The confusing part is that our bodies don’t necessarily reflect our growing, expanding spirit and self.
As we move into a bigger version of ourselves, our body many times is going in the opposite direction. Getting ready to go back to the earth.
My epiphany? Maybe who we are is just becoming too big for our bodies, for the physical part of us. Maybe as I grow in spirit and self, I just outgrow my body.
So maybe it’s not a paradox that I re-turn to my purist self as I become an elder.
It’s all good, as long as I think it is.
Maybe somewhere in the ethers another body is being prepared for me and my new bigger self next time around.
But in the meantime, it gives me a little peace of mind to bring some meaning to the way the body and soul journey together on this planet.
Remember, Elder equals Everything Lived Deserves Extraordinary Reverence.
Extraordinary Reverence.
