To Fail Or To Regret – That Is The Question!

January 15, 2019 by Comments

I tried, I failed, I got back up.

When I didn’t try, I regretted it for a lifetime.

to fail or to regret? that is the question!

I was driving with my 19 year old Chaz the other day and he was commenting on a friend’s sadness at not having the support of his parents to pursue a passion.  Chaz then offered appreciation for what his dad and I do to support his dreams – many times on a path that is not “accepted” by societal constructs and is definitely seen as being a riskier financial journey.

Don’t know where it came from but my response was: “You know, from my experience, at my age, regret feels a hell of a lot shittier than trying and failing. You can get up when you fail and start all over again –  repeatedly. But regrets haunt you forever and are hard to resolve because you realize that you let fear run your life instead of passion and purpose.”

I’m taking my own advice and working on “failing instead of regretting,” appreciating all the projects I put my heart and soul into, that although manifested in truly magnificent ways, have not yet yielded a financial pay-off.

I may not have the money YET to reflect my efforts, but at least I don’t have to live a lifetime with the painful energy of regret.

In the Shiftitude attached you’ll see that I’ve reframed the word “failure” to be a positive experience rather than a negative one.  A stepping stone towards my goal rather than a block that’s knocked me down to my knees permanently.

I tried, I failed..next!!!
